This manuscript is one of several opulent works commissioned by Duke Jean de Berry. The Belles Heures were created ca. 1410-13 in France and are currently located in the Cloisters Museum, New York. This scene (f.48v) shows the Adoration of both the shepherds and the magi, with the shepherds represented by a single figure in the background. He wears an indistinct Shepherds Purse of the crescent-shaped variety.
