The source is a book of hours made in Ghent in the late 15th century and currently located at the British Library. (Egerton MS 1147 f9 and f6v - it's unclear which page this illustration is from.) An extremely similar genre scene can be found in the Da Costa Hours.

A shepherd in the distance leads the flock out through a gate - he wears a pouch-belt on which no details are visible. A shepherd stands at the door to the barn holding a lamb, he wears a plain grayish pouch-belt that appears to have a small flap. Another shepherd shoos the sheep out of the barn -- if he wears a pouch-belt it is hidden by his arm.
