And while they were sitting thus, they saw thirteen ships, coming from the south of Ireland, and making toward them, ... and nearing them swiftly. "I see ships yonder," said the king, "*coming boldly toward the land. *Ask the men of the court to dress themselves, and go to see what thought (i.e., intention) is theirs." The men dressed themselves and neared them [going] down. After seeing the ships ... they were certain (i.e., "they had certainty") they had never seen ships more perfect of their nature (i.e. "more perfect in nature") than they.
